Eisteddfod Ryngwladol Gerddorol Llangollen
The production crew and presenters of S4C’s programmes from the Llangollen International Music Eisteddfod this year are really looking forward to being in the midst of all the fun and colourful costumes on the Eisteddfod field.
A sad loss
But at the same time, one presence will be keenly missed, as everyone will be thinking fondly of Robin Jones, who died last year. He was in his element presenting from the Eisteddfod stage, and the audience in the International Pavilion loved him.
Hefin Owen, producer of S4C's programmes from the festival says, "Robin was very much at home on the Eisteddfod stage and no-one knew his audience like he did. We will be paying a special tribute to him in our Wednesday evening programme."
Presenting at the Eisteddfod this year will be Nia Roberts, Trystan Ellis-Morris, Alwyn Humphreys and Mari Grug. Alwyn and Mari will guide us through the day's events, with Nia and Trystan presenting the evening's highlights programmes.
A new presenter and first-time visitor
This is the first time that Trystan has presented from the field of the Llangollen Eisteddfod and this is also his first ever visit to the festival.
"I'm looking forward to it tremendously," says Trystan. "I'm especially looking forward to is meeting people from all over the world. But I'm a bit worried about my foreign language prowess. I'm not sure my schoolboy French will have stayed with me, but here's hoping."
Choir of the World
As well as this week’s programmes from the Eisteddfod, S4C will also be broadcasting the festival’s prestigious Choir of the World competition next Saturday evening and highlights of the Gala Concert featuring Katherine Jenkins and young French tenor Amaury Vassili on the Sunday evening.
