Rhydian concert fronts S4C’s bumper programme of events

20 February 2009

Rhydian Roberts and S4C head for the Llandudno area for a bumper fortnight of events as part of St David’s Day celebrations.

Pop superstar Rhydian, who came second in the 2007 X Factor competition, will be appearing in a special S4C concert in the seaside town, which will be broadcast later this year.

Other highlights include the annual Cân i Gymru (Song for Wales) competition, hosted by Sarra Elgan and Rhodri Owen, and broadcast live on S4C from Venue Cymru, Llandudno on 1 March.

Welsh learners from the Llandudno area are invited to a special evening to find out more about S4C’s exciting new interactive service for learners at www.s4c.co.uk

The Learners’ Evening at Llandudno’s Imperial Hotel on Monday, 9 March (7.00pm) will include a preview of S4C’s fascinating new series about India, Angell yn India, presented by presenter and stand-up comic Beth Angell.

S4C activities, which begin on Monday 23 February and continue up until Thursday 5 March, also include a schools tour and an opportunity for children to visit S4C’s Cyw nursery service bus.

Presenters of popular S4C children's shows, Y Garej, Sgorio and Dawnstastig will be visiting local schools to meet young viewers.

Younger children can enjoy a magical tour around the Cyw bus, which stops in various schools and locations during weekdays, and which will be based in the grounds of the Holy Trinity Church, Llandudno on Saturday 28 February and Sunday 1 March.

Sali Mali’s best pal, Jac y Jwc, from pre-school show Pentre Bach, will also be reading stories for younger children in Llandudno’s Waterstones bookshop on 28 February and 1 March.

Hymn-singing series Dechrau Canu Dechrau Canmol will be filming a special edition in Llandudno.
