Pen Talar released on DVD

13 December 2012

The popular S4C drama series Pen Talar is now available for you to enjoy time and time again on DVD.

Pen Talar was broadcast in autumn 2010 and follows characters from two families in west Wales from the early 1960s to the present day in a drama about passions and beliefs, friendship and belonging.

Starring Richard Harrington, Ryland Teifi and Mali Harries in a stellar cast, it is a gripping portrayal of the life-long bond between Defi Lewis, his best friend Doug Green and his sister Siân Lewis.

The production by Fiction Factory, created by playwrights Sion Eirian and Ed Thomas, received 12 BAFTA Cymru nominations.

Nora Oslter of Fiction Factory says that the DVD comes as a result of high demand by fans of the series, "The DVD has been made as a result of great public interest. People contacted the company by phone, email, Twitter and Facebook since the first broadcast on S4C asking if we intend to release it on DVD. At last, it's happened!

"We're very excited that the series will be seen again, and that it is in such high demand. At the time there was quite a buzz around the programme and it received very positive feedback by viewers and reviewers."

Elin Morris, S4C Director of Corporate and Commercial Policy, says, "The series Pen Talar was very much a talking point in the S4C schedule. This release is an example of the commercial ventures that can arise from a popular series such as this, and I'm sure the DVD will be a success."

You can buy the DVD now from you local book shop, or Amazon, for £30.
