S4C’s Cyw characters give children’s ward even more colour

S4C has been busy brightening up the children’s ward at the Wrexham Maelor Hospital with big colourful stickers of characters from Cyw, S4C’s children’s service.

The ward is now decorated with bright colours and the characters are all placed in different scenes, such as in the fair, on the beach and on the farm.

Emma Cunnah-Newell, Betsi Cadwaladr Health Play Specialist is delighted with the end result:

"It's been really great to have S4C’s support and we are delighted to have such wonderful decoration around the hospital including Children's Ward and Accident and Emergency. It has brightened up and made areas more child friendly which helps to make what can be a frightening experience more pleasant for the children using our services."

The work has been done as part of an S4C project which aims to decorate children’s wards across Wales with Cyw’s best loved characters.

Over the past few months S4C will be giving the children’s wards in other hospitals across Wales the same colourful Cyw treatment.

Jane Felix Richards, S4C Head of Promotions and Marketing, hopes that the scheme will continue to help the children’s morale while they are receiving treatment.

"By decorating hospital wards, we hope that we can help make the children’s stay there somewhat more pleasant,” says Jane.

"We know that staff in hospitals across Wales work hard each day to ensure that Welsh children's morale are kept as high as possible when they receive treatment, and if the Cyw’s colourful fun-filled world has helps, then this campaign will have been a success.”
