New app for Samsung TV is smart move for S4C

26 February 2018

Owners of Samsung Smart TVs can now watch S4C programmes live and on demand directly through a new app released today.

The app launched today (26 February) is compatible with the latest models of Samsung TV.

This is the second smart TV ap launched by the Welsh-language channel since the start of 2018, after an S4C ap for Amazon Fire was launched at the beginning of January.

The app adds to the wide range of ways to watch S4C content, and among the highlights available for Samsung TV owners from today is a box set of the gripping much talked about drama series Craith. Also, the mid-week drama set in a valleys school, Gwaith Cartref, and a chance to learn about communities all over Wales, from Merthyr to Holyhead, in the stunning series Cynefin.

Owen Evans, S4C Chief Executive says; "This is the second smart TV app launched by S4C this year, and it's another big step in our developing digital strategy to ensure S4C's presence on all available platforms. Following the launch of the Amazon Fire app in January, we can now reach out to an even wider audience on Samsung TV, one of the most popular services on the market. Our aim is to include S4C on all new platforms on the market, to maintain ease of access for everyone to Welsh-language content."

S4C is available on all television viewing platforms in Wales, and across the UK on Sky, Freesat and Virgin TV. Programmes are also available live or on demand on s4c.cymru, BBC iPlayer, YouView, Amazon Fire TV, tvplayer.com and the S4C App from Android and iOS devices.
