23 BAFTA Cymru nominations for S4C

S4C has received 23 BAFTA Cymru nominations this year on the list announced on Thursday, 5 September.

At the top of S4C's list of nominations is the drama series Enid a Lucy (Boom Cymru) with five nominations, including the Television Drama category, Actress category for Eiry Thomas, the Breakthrough category for Steffan Cennydd, Director: Factual for Rhys Powys and the Editing category for Angharad Owen.

S4C succeeded in receiving all the nominations in the Entertainment Programme category with Cân i Gymru: Dathlu'r 50 (Avanti), Elis James – Cic Lan Yr Archif (Alpha Productions) Geraint Thomas: Vive Le Tour (Tinopolis) and Priodas Pum Mil (Boom Cymru).

There are three nominations for S4C too in the Children's Programme category, Cyw a'r Gerddorfa (Boom Cymru), Deian a Loli a'r Ffarwel (Cwmni Da) a Prosiect Z (Boom Cymru).

Dawn Thomas Mondo won a nomination for the tragic film Morfydd (Boom Cymru) in the Costume Design category, and James Spinks also won a nomination for his work on Morfydd in the Hair and Make up Category, as well as Claire Pritchard Jones for Un Bore Mercher (Vox Pictures).

Cynefin (Rondo Media) won a nomination in the Factual Series category.

S4C received two nominations in the News and Current Affairs category for Ein Byd (ITV Cymru) and Y Byd yn ei Le (ITV Cymru)

Elin Fflur's emotional documentary DRYCH: Chdi, Fi ac IVF (Tinopolis) won a nomination in the Single Documentary category.

The production team at Rondo Media won a nomination in the Sound category for their work on Cyngerdd Heddwch Berlin.

Also there was a nomination for Elen (Ie Ie Productions), for talented author Fflur Dafydd in the Writer category for her work on 35 Awr (Boom Cymru). Cai Morgan received a nomination in the Breakthrough category for his work on various S4C platforms including Hansh digital platform.

Congratulating all the nominees, S4C's Director of Content, Amanda Rees, says: "We are very proud of all the productions nominated for the prestigious 2019 BAFTA Cymru awards. While drama and entertainment is obvious at the top, with a number of nominations, the whole list shows the standard and diversity of S4C's service across all genres. The list celebrates factual, entertainment, children's programmes, current affairs, the arts, sports and digital innovations too. I'm very proud of each one and wish everyone the very best at the awards ceremony."

The winners will be announced in a ceremony presented on 13 October 2019 in St David's Hall, Cardiff.
