Yma i Chi: The new S4C Clic channel that is here for you

9 April 2020

As people and communities across Wales adapt to the changes to their lives brought about by COVID-19, S4C Clic is launching a new channel which will offer help and guidance and represent the voice of the nation.

The new channel Yma i Chi (Here for You) will sit alongside the current S4C Clic channels such as Walter Presents, Cyw, Hansh and Sianel Dysgwyr and will offer the latest news and stories from viewers.

As well as new programmes, the channel will also feature some classic shows, as requested by S4C viewers, including C'Mon Midffîld and the fourth and fifith series of popular drama, Amdani!.

Among the exclusive new content for Yma i Chi, is a series of short films called Bwrw 'Mlaen, which follows numerous key workers during a day in their job. We'll hear from volunteers in their seventies who are working every day to keep their local food bank open, from a police officer during a night shift, and from essential NHS staff members working in hospitals around Wales.

I.T a Fi (I.T. and Me), offers up some light-hearted advice from the younger generations about how to stay in touch with people by using technology like Skype, WhatsApp and Facetime.

And over Easter weekend, there will also be a series of six short programmes called Cymru o'r Awyr (Wales from the Sky), which showcase some of Wales' most spectacular scenery without anyone having to leave their home.

Yma i Chi will also be the place where viewers can keep up-to-date with the ever-unfolding COVID-19 situation, with a number of S4C television series, including: the latest news from the Newyddion team, Y Byd ar Bedwar, Y Byd yn ei Le, Ffermio, Heno, Prynhawn Da and Cadwch yn Ddiogel (Stay Safe) , a series of short films featuring a number of familiar faces, reminding us to stay safe from the virus in our homes.

As S4C commission more programmes to help raise a smile or to offer a service during this period of uncertainty, they will also be added to the channel. Among these series will be, Yr Oedfa (Sunday Services), Neges y Pasg gan Esgob Bangor (The Bishop of Bangor's Easter Message), FFIT Cymru, Cwpwrdd Epic Chris (Chris' Epic Cupboard) and Côr Digidol Rhys Meirion (Rhys Meirion's Digital Choir).

Amanda Rees, S4C Director of Content, said: "COVID-19 has affected every person in Wales and as a Public Service Broadcaster, it's more important than ever that S4C keeps viewers informed about the situation and offer some reassurance and a feeling of community.

"Yma i Chi will curate a wide variety of up-to-date and archive content which will be engaging and useful to S4C Clic viewers. S4C is here for you during these difficult times and we hope that the channel will provide some comfort to people in their homes."
