Alex Humphreys joins S4C's weather crew

10 September 2020

S4C is pleased to announce that Alex Humphreys will join the channel's weather presenting team.

Alex will join Steffan Griffiths, Chris Jones and Megan Williams as the channel's weather will be broadcast as part of S4C's news service from the BBC in Central Square, Cardiff at the end of the month.

Alex, originally from Flintshire, has extensive broadcasting experience and is a familiar face as presenter of children's news programme, Ffeil on S4C. Alex has also worked on Newsround for CBBC and Wales Live for BBC One.

"This will certainly be a new challenge for me" says Alex. "After over six years of presenting children's programmes I feel ready for a new challenge. I love presenting and I'm glad to be able to continue to do so in a whole new genre. I feel grateful for the opportunity."

Geraint Evans, S4C's Commissioner for News and Current Affairs, said:

"We are delighted to welcome Alex to the S4C weather team. Her journalistic background and presenting experience will be invaluable as we unite the weather service within our news programmes. With the weather often becoming more of a story in itself we hope to use the expertise of the weather presenters as part of the main news programme from the studio."

Sharen Griffith, S4C News Editor, said:

"During an exciting time for the News crew, as we prepare to broadcast from Central Square in Cardiff, we are pleased to welcome the weather team to our midst. The new studio will offer special technology and resources and will ensure that we can merge the news and weather together in our bulletins ensuring that we bring the latest situations to the audience."
