Changing the S4C Subtitles Procedures

The procedure of subtitling S4C programmes has changed. Following the recent tender process, two companies will be responsible for preparing English subtitles for the majority of S4C programmes.

From the 27th of February 2017 onwards, Testun will be responsible for subtitling S4C's general programmes arriving beforehand.

Adnod will be responsible for subtitling live programmes or any programmes arriving close to TX.

We will also be increasing the number of Welsh subtitles available on S4C programmes per week to 8-10 hours.ITV SignPost will now be responsible for S4C's open signing service and CTV will continue to provide audio description for S4C.Production companies will not have to do a thing – S4C will arrange copies for Testun, Adnod and Capsiwn and these companies will invoice S4C directly. If you're producing live broadcasts or programmes arriving close to TX, it's possible that Adnod will contact you to see if it's possible for them to receive any content beforehand.

If you have any questions in regards to these changes, please contact Meleri Wyn Flint, Access Services Coordinator meleri.wyn.flint@s4c.cymru.

For information, Ericsson will continue to subtitle any programmes produced by the BBC for S4C and Tinopolis will continue to subtitle any live programmes produced by themselves.
