Gobaith Caneri

Revealing documentary follows Fans-owned football club

A special three-part series following the trials and tribulations of the fans of Caernarfon Town FC who recently took over the running of the town's proud football club.

The series Gobaith Caneri (A Canary's Hope) finds out how a colourful group of characters take on the challenge of running a football club with little previous experience.

Caernarfon Town FC, known as the Canaries, are languishing at the bottom of the Cymru Alliance League, having been relegated last season from the Principality Welsh Premiership. But the club, who play at the town's Oval football ground, have more in common with Catalonian giants, Barcelona FC, than many would dare imagine as they are both run by their fans.

A club in crisis

Producer Arwyn Evans said: "The series will not only show the successes, but also the frustrations as the team face the challenge of the future and the filming will include the difficult discussions of the committee behind closed doors.

As the Gobaith Caneri series kicks off, this is a club in crisis, facing relegation once again and in trouble for not paying club fines and paying dearly for indiscipline on the pitch.
