Gwobrau Gwir Flas

A feast of Wales' best food and drink

A feast of the best Welsh produce will take over S4C with special highlights of the True Taste Food & Drink Awards 2010-11.

The programme Gwobrau Gwir Flas gives us a taste of the special awards evening which honour the hard work of Welsh food and drink producers.

As well as revealing the winners of the Gold, Silver and Bronze awards in each category, the programme will also take a closer look at some of the people and their produce. There are 42 prizes up for grabs in total and the programme will focus on eight prizes and meet the producers who are hoping to win Gold.

The companies featured are Rhug Estate, Corwen; Blas ar Fwyd, Llanrwst; Y Bwtri, Porthmadog and Pwllheli; Llaeth Bethesda Milk; Llwynhelyg Farm Shop; The Pembrokeshire Tea Company Ltd; Gower Cottage Brownies; and Caws Cennarth Cheese.

The awards were launched in 2002 and are managed by the Welsh Assembly Government. The aim is to promote the very best of Welsh food and drink. Wales' Rural Affairs Minister, Elin Jones says.

"I am delighted that once again so many producers have entered the Wales the True Taste Food and Drink awards, which continue to go from strength to strength. I never cease to be impressed at the quality and innovation shown by producers from across Wales and the awards are quite rightly recognised by consumers and the food and drink industry as a sign of excellence."

Presenting the programme will be Heledd Cynwal and she'll be interviewing the winners after they collect their awards, while Siân Thomas brings us a flavour of the excitement back stage.

The True Taste Food & Drink Awards 2010-11 is held on Thursday 11 November at the Withybush Showground in Haverfordwest. Hosting the evening this year is broadcaster Jamie Owen.
