Ceredigion Trotting Club

Congratulations to Ceredigion Trotting Club for a memorable 2 days racing at Tan y Castell this weekend attracting 277 horses from all over the UK and Ireland racing for over £25,000 in prize money, in front of record crowds.

This was especially pleasing for husband and wife team, Henry and Heulwen Bulman now flying solo as the only remaining members of the five strong team that originally started the event 18 years ago.

The main feature of Saturday’s card the Travis Perkins lower grade final offered a top prize of £2,000, which was claimed by Camden Castellano driven by Jonathan Dunne, one of 8 Irish winners on day one -->

Amongst Sunday’s highlights was the Cambrian Garage Free-for-All featuring three S4C Crock of Gold winners as well as the fastest horse in UK racing history Doonbeg. This turned out to be a dramatic event with Doonbeg falling at the first attempt. The re-run race was claimed by a Brywins Magicpotion bred by Sennybridge’s Bryan Davies and driven by Alan Haythornthwaite -->

Sunday’s feature race was the Llety Parc Open Handicap for the top grade horses – each Heat was worth £400, the final £4,000 to the winner. The big money was claimed by another Welsh bred horse – Wellfield Ghost from Roy Sheedy’s Penhow stable, driven by Sarah Allan -->
