The Football Association of Wales have announced the appointment of Geraint Williams as intermediate teams manager – taking charge of the Under 21’s – as well as the under 19 and 17 sides.
The former international midfielder succeeds Brian Flynn, who left in May after his contract came to an end.
Williams played for Bristol Rovers, Derby County, Ipswich Town and Colchester Utd – and won 13 caps for Wales between 1988 and 1996. He has also managed Colchester Utd and Leyton Orient.
The national team manager Chris Coleman said Williams would be play a crucial role as they attempt to create ‘The Wales Way’ of playing – emulating Spain, Germany, France and the Netherlands in the way those countries have been successfully developing young players.
