In a triple squad announcement at St David’s Hotel on Monday, Wales named their 24 man squad for the Gary Speed Memorial Match against Costa Rica at the Cardiff City Stadium on 29 February.
The only change of note is the return of Bolton fullback Sam Ricketts.
The 30 year old has recently returned to first team action at the Reebok Stadium following a lengthy spell out with an achilles injury, and with 42 caps to his name, adds more experience and options to an already strong squad.
Household names such as Ashley Williams, Craig Bellamy, Gareth Bale and Aaron Ramsey are all included as well as the hugely gifted Joe Allen, who has started Wales’ last four games.
On standby is 17 year old Blackburn Rovers fullback Adam Henley who has recently broken into Steve Kean’s first team at Ewood Park.
Also announced today was the Wales Under 21s squad to face Andorra, also on 29 February at the Racecourse Ground, Wrexham, in an important qualification match.
Adam Henley is named in that squad along with Swansea City fullback Ashley Richards, who is expected to captain the side.
In addition to these, the Wales Women’s Team squad was announced by manager, Jarmo Matikainen ahead of their participation in the Algarve Cup from 29 February – 7 March.
Matikainen has named two uncapped players in Cardiff’s Kayleigh Green and Watford’s Sarah Wiltshire.
