The Olympic Games may have finished but never fear – the football season is back to fill the sport-shaped void in your life.
And the new season means rekindling an old challenge for the Sgorio team, to predict what happens between now and the end of the season.
There are so many questions to be answered, after a busy summer of exchanging players in the Welsh Premier League, not forgetting a managerial change at Swansea and a change of shirt colour in Cardiff.
According to Sgorio’s experts, it’s a race for second position in the Welsh Premier League, with John Hartson, Malcolm Allen, Dai Davies and Dylan Ebenezer all predicting that The New Saints will retain their league title.
The pundits are almost in unison when predicting the winners of the English Premier League, with Malcolm, John and Dai all choosing Manchester City as their Champions.
Dylan’s choice is from the heart – Arsenal – the same as last season (and every other season too!).
Sgorio is celebrating showing highlights of Spanish football for the twenty-fifth season running this year and the pundits all foresee the Clasico giants fighting for the La Liga trophy once again.
According to Malcolm and Dai, Real Madrid will win their second title consecutively, while John and Dylan predict that Barcelona will succeed, under new manager Tito Vilanova.
As for the Welsh clubs, the pundits’ predictions are surprisingly similar, especially when looking at Swansea’s season.
Malcolm, Dylan and Dai all predict that Swansea will finished 15th in the Premier League, while John sees his hometown team finishing a little higher in 13th, in Michael Laudrup’s first season in charge.
Only two of the four pundits place Cardiff in the play-offs – John and Dai predicting 5th and 6th – while the other two – Malcolm and Dylan – think that the Bluebirds will finish in the top ten but just outside the play-off spots, finishing 10th and 8th according to Malcolm and Dylan respectively.
All four of the team expect Wrexham to emulate the performances of the last two season by finishing the play-offs, with the quartet placing the Dragons between 3rd and 5th in the Blue Square.
The pundits are also in agreement that Newport will have a better time this term, with all four predicting a finish between 7th and 10th in the league.
The predictions will continue throughout the season, from week to week, after Malcolm and Dylan finished equal in Sgorio’r prediction league last season!
