After eight seasons as Bangor City’s talismanic striker, Les Davies has signed for gap Connah’s Quay.
The video above proves how much of a shock this is to his team-mates who named him as Bangor’s biggest threat this season in an interview at the WPL photo shoot last week.
Davies, 30, has been a fan favourite for the Citizens over the last decade and is a huge blow to the club less than two weeks before the new season’s opening weekend.
With Bangor’s summer signing, Sam Jones, unlikely to be fit for several months after suffering a slipped disk, Neville Powell’s side are lacking a natural goal-scorer in their squad.
Lee Healey has left Nantporth after only half a season as well as Callum Morris who’s also joined the Nomads.
Jamie Petrie has struggled to regain his form since breaking his leg in April 2014 which means that manager Neville Powell will need to sign a striker to avoid another season fighting at the wrong end of the table.
Les Davies holds the record for the most appearances for Bangor in the WPL:
252 (+23) apps, 88 goals for Bangor.
Powell will need to move fast if he intends to find a replacement before their season kicks off against rivals Rhyl at the Corbett Sports Stadium on Friday, 21 August.
