The Corbett Sports Welsh Premier League Team of the Season 2014/15 has been chosen.

The league’s managers choose the Team of the Season by picking a team each with the best players from their opponents over the season.

The managers’ 12 teams are combined and the players who were picked most often gain their place in the Welsh Premier League all-star team.

It’s no surprise to see five players from treble Champions The New Saints in the team – defenders Phil Baker, Simon Spender and Chris Marriott and midfielders Adrian Cieslewicz and Aeron Edwards.

The rest of the team all come from the Top Six with Bala Town and Airbus UK represented by two players each – Ashley Morris (goalkeeper) and Lee Hunt (forward) for Bala, Mike Pearson Pearson (defence) and Tom Field (midfield) for Airbus.

Aberystwyth and Newtown have a player each in the team too – Golden Boot winner Chris Venables in midfield and the Robins’ top scorer, Jason Oswell, in attack.

With almost half the official team coming from Champions TNS, Sgorio asked pundit Malcolm Allen to choose an alternative team – the Team of the Season without picking any TNS players.

All of Malcolm Allen’s alternative team comes the top half of the table too, with second-placed Bala Town contributing five players – Ashley Morris, Will Bell, Sean Smith, Conall Murtagh and Ian Sheridan.

Malcolm agrees with the league managers in picking Airbus UK duo Mike Pearson and Tom Field, but the former international striker has also picked the Wingmakers’ Lee Owens at right full-back.

Chris Venables also gains a place in Malcolm’s alternative team, in midfield alongside another of Aberystwyth’s stars, Geoff Kellaway.

Malcolm’s team is completed by Martin Rose, after the striker’s best goalscoring season in the league since 2008/09.
