Tonight at 20:00 France will face Romania in the opening game of Euro 2016.
France are in good form and haven’t lost a game this year so far.
Romania haven’t been so lucky because they’ve only won 2 of their last 6 games.
France are the obvious favourites but Romania will be wanting to spoil the party and begin their tournament with a win.
France have won this prestigious competition twice before in 1984 and 2000 and their manager Didier Deschamps will be quietly confident that this group of players can succeed in the competition.
Romania have only ever won one game in the Euros so an upset will be unlikely.
Since the year 200 both sides have met 6 times with France winning 2 and the rest have been draws.
No player stands out in this Romanian side but they are a strong defensive unit and they’re the team who let the least amount of goals past them in the whole qualifying rounds.
France have held the tournament twice before and they’ll be hoping that the home advantage will take them to the final.
On this day in 1966, Swansea Town played their first European match on home soil as Slavia Sofia visited the Vetch.
