gap Connah’s Quay v Airbus UK – Play-off Final – live on S4C this Saturday, 14 May at 4:45.

The final live game of the 2015/16 Sgorio season will see gap Connah’s Quay and Airbus UK go head to head in the Flintshire derby for a prize of €200,000 and to claim the last remaining spot in Europe next season.

Airbus UK hope to reach Europe for the fourth consecutive season while gap Connah’s Quay are dreaming of their first ever European adventure and could become the 24th WPL club to experience European football.

Airbus secured their place in the play-off final with a 1-2 away win at Newtown thanks to two Matty McGinn penalties.

While gap Connah’s Quay beat Carmarthen 2-0 at home with Nomads keeper John Rushton saving a Liam Thomas penalty in the second half of the game.

It should be a thrilling encounter as both managers, Andy Morrison and Andy Preece know each other very well as Morrison was assistant to Preece at Airbus before being appointed the manager of gap Connah’s Quay.

Talking to Sgorio before facing his old club, Andy Morrison admitted it wouldn’t be easy for him on a personal level:
“It’s gonna be a difficult situation for me because I’ve been to war with all them players and the management on many occasions and we’ve had incredible times together… but professionally I’ll make sure my team is ready for the game.”

“We’ve come from bottom of the league and now we’re in the play-off final… a staggering achievement.”

The Nomads reached the play off semi final last year but lost 3-2 in the last minute against Aberystwyth.

Airbus have reached Europe in each of the last three seasons but have never won an European tie.

Airbus’ record in Europe: Played 6 – Drawn 4, Lost 2.
