Sgorio picks the five Welsh Premier League stars that stood out over the weekend.
Paul Harrison – The New Saints
A strong performance from The New Saints keeper secured an away point for the WPL champions. Harrison has not conceded since the first day of the season (5-2 loss v Bangor) and has kept four straight clean sheets.
Mike Williams – Llandudno
Mike Williams scored the only goal of the game in Llandudno’s 1-0 win over Barry Town. Alan Morgan’s men climbed to the top of the league with the victory – with Llandudno also the only unbeaten side in the league after five games.
Kieran Lewis – Carmarthen
Kieran Lewis proved a hand-full for Bala Town throughout Carmarthen’s impressive 0-4 win at Maes Tegid on Saturday. Lewis set up Old Gold’s first by crossing for Georgievsky to head home before scoring the second himself – a great free kick beating Ashley Morris in the Bala goal. Lewis also set up the fourth, another dangerous cross into the area for Liam Griffiths to meet.
Joe Kenton – Newtown
Kenton scored twice in his first Welsh Premier League start of the season. The 4-0 win over Aberystwyth keeps Chris Hughes’ side’s unbeaten start at Latham Park.
Kostya Georgievsky – Carmarthen
Georgievsky opened the scoring for Old Gold in their 4-0 victory at Maes Tegid on Saturday. This is his third Welsh Premier League goal, all coming for three different clubs; Port Talbot, Aberystwyth and Carmarthen.
On this day in 1992, Kit Symons made his first ever appearance for Wales.
