Wales will feel relatively happy with a 0-0 result and to come away from the Aviva Stadium with a point after playing the last 20 minutes with ten men following Neil Taylor’s dismissal for a wild challenge on Ireland’s Seamus Coleman.
The Irish captain looked to have suffered a serious injury and was stretchered off on 70 minutes.
Not many chances were created either end but Wales had to deal with late pressure as Ireland tried to make their extra man count.
The result leaves Wales in 3rd position in Group D, four points behind Serbia and Ireland.
