The New Saints of Oswestry could go five points clear at the top of the JD Welsh Premier League if they manage a win away to Cefn Druids on Tuesday night.
Cefn Druids v The New Saints | Tuesday – 19:45
But it won’t be an easy task for Scott Ruscoe’s side as the Ancients have not lost at home in the WPL since the opening weekend of the season (Cefn 0-3 Met).
The Druids are still enjoying the dizzy heights of the Top Six after a 2-1 win at home to Barry Town on Saturday afternoon.
Both sides have an impressive defensive record this season with TNS conceding only 13 goals in 14 games, and the Druids conceding only 15… but the league champions have scored twice the amount of goals that Huw Griffiths’ side have netted (34/17).
There’s over 10 years since Cefn Druids last beat The New Saints in the Welsh Premier League (1-0, Ricky Evans – August 2007) and TNS have won nine of the 10 games between them since.
In those 10 encounters since 2007, TNS have scored 29 times while Cefn Druids have only netted twice.
The last match between these sides at the Rock back in December 2016 was an historical event, as it was the game that saw TNS break the world record for most consecutive wins (27).
