This Saturday Caernarfon welcome Rhyl to the Oval in the fourth round of the Welsh Cup, live on S4C with kick off at 17:15.

The Cofis are currently 2nd in the Huws Gray Alliance and are hoping to cause another shock in the Welsh Cup after knocking out Welsh Premier League side, Carmarthen in the last round.

This is Caernarfon’s best run in the Welsh Cup for nine years (2007/08 – reached the 4th round but lost 1-0 vs Guilsfield).

If Caernarfon beat Rhyl they will play in the quarter final for the first time in 11 years (2005/06 – lost 3-0 vs Llangefni after knocking out Coedpoeth, Holyhead, Porthmadog and Bala).

The Cofis have reached the semi final on five occasions but have yet to reach the final and therefore have never won the Welsh Cup.

Rhyl are through to the fourth round after thrashing Penrhyncoch 6-0 in the last round.

The Lilywhites have lifted the Welsh Cup trophy on four occasions (1952, 1953, 2004, 2006).

The clubs already met once this season with Rhyl knocking the Cofis out of the Nathaniel MG Cup with a 5-1 away win at the Oval.

But it will be the first meeting between the two sides in the Welsh Cup since the 1984/85 4th round (32 years ago) Rhyl 2-1 Caernarfon – Rhyl went on to lost 1-7 to Shrewsbury in the 5th round.

Road to the 4th round:
Caernarfon: Conwy (1-5), Llangefni (4-4 – won 2-4 on pens), Carmarthen (3-1)
Rhyl: Penrhyncoch (6-0)
