Sgorio picks the five players that stood out over the weekend.
Jordan Hart (Queen’s Park)
Queen’s Park keeper Jordan Hart was named man of the match at Hampden Park on Friday night as he produced several fantastic saves against Connah’s Quay in the Irn Bru Cup quarter final.
Gareth Edwards (Caernarfon)
Gareth Edwards netted his first WPL goal on Saturday as the Cofis eased past Cardiff Met to make it two wins on the bounce for Caernarfon in the top flight for the first time in 10 years.
Greg Walters (Carmarthen)
Greg Walters marked his 50th WPL start on Saturday with a delightful goal against Llandudno to help Carmarthen go five points clear of the relegation zone.
James Loveridge (Llanelli)
Llanelli might be struggling in the bottom two, but Reds striker James Loveridge is joint third on the WPL top scorer chart this season after grabbing his 7th of the campaign on Saturday, before providing the assist for the second goal in Llanelli’s 2-0 home win against the Druids.
Michael Wilde (Connah’s Quay)
It looked like the Nomads were on their way out of the Irn Bru Cup as they were 1-0 down with less than 10 minutes to go. But striker Michael Wilde showed his experience by creating the equaliser with a clever header into George Horan’s path, before scoring the winner in the dying minutes to send Connah’s Quay into the semi final.
On this day in 1958 Derek Tapscott moved from Arsenal to Cardiff City for £10,000.
