Sgorio picks the five Welsh Premier League players that stood out over the weekend.
Leigh Jenkins (Aberystwyth)
Aber are up to 7th place following their win against Bala Town where Aber keeper Leigh Jenkins had to make several clever stops to deny Player of the Month, Henry Jones and the WPL joint top scorer, Steven Tames.
James Owen (Connah’s Quay)
James Owen netted the fastest goal of the season when he put the Nomads 1-0 up against Newtown after only 49 seconds to give the home side the perfect start as they went on to win 3-1.
Jordan Evans (Cefn Druids)
On another day Jordan Evans could have scored a hat-trick against Carmarthen as he got himself in great positions, creating countless opportunities. He eventually did get his deserved goal late on to cap off an impressive display for the Druids.
Marcus Jones (Barry Town)
Caernarfon and Barry seemed to be heading towards a goalless draw before Marcus Jones was introduced as a second half substitute at the Oval. Jones created a fantastic chance for Jonathan Hood to score, he got Clive Williams sent off for a late challenge, before curling in a glorious goal from the edge of the box to win the game for the visitors.
Toby Jones (Llandudno)
Llandudno have been struggling in front of goal this season, but Toby Jones struck a wonderful strike at Cyncoed on Sunday to secure Llandudno’s first ever win against Cardiff Met.
On this day in 1956 Portsmouth took on Newcastle United in the first Football League match played under floodlights.
