Caernarfon have more than held their ground on returning to the JD Welsh Premier League after a decade in the doldrums and the Canaries aim for a place in the coveted Top Six.
One of their closest rivals are Cardiff Met whose students are suffering from an inconsistent third season after successful freshman and sophomore years in the top division.
wo teams who are evenly matched in quality but have different styles – tune in for a close game under the Oval’s floodlights.
Caernarfon v Cardiff Met | Saturday – 17:15 (S4C)
The Cofis and the students go head to head on Saturday night in a vital game in the race for the Top Six.
Both clubs start the weekend in the bottom half, hoping to close the gap on 6th placed Aberystwyth.
Cardiff Met are in their third season in the WPL, and having fallen at the final hurdle in the play-off final in their last two seasons, they had certainly set their sights on European qualification this time around.
But having reached the Top Six in both previous seasons, Cardiff Met find themselves down in 8th place with eight games to go until the split.
Caernarfon are also targeting the Top Six in their first season back in the Welsh Premier League.
The Canaries claimed a marvellous away victory against TNS last weekend to bring a run of six games without a win to an end.
It was a Nathan Craig penalty that secured the win for the Cofis at Park Hall (0-1) – and that was the same story when Caernarfon met the students earlier this season – Cardiff Met 0-1 Caernarfon.
