Andy Morrison’s men win the 131st JD Welsh Cup following their 1-4 win over Aberystwyth at Newtown’s Latham Park. This is the first time The Nomads have lifted the trophy in their history.

Connah’s Quay secured their first ever Welsh Cup following their 1-4 win over Aberystwyth.

In front of a crowd of 1400 The Nomads scored three times in the first half, Michael Bakare opening the scoring before Michael Wilde doubled the lead for Connah’s Quay. Wilde scored again five minutes from the interval before Ryan Wade’s headed goal pulled one back for Aber.

Malcolm Melvin hit the crossbar for Aber in the second half, but Connah’s Quay were too strong for Neville Powell’s men with Andy Owen scoring in the 90th minute to seal the victory for The Nomads.

As Connah’s Quay have won the Welsh Cup, Bala Town will progress into the Europa League qualifying rounds with Cefn Druids now securing their place in the play-off final.
