At lunch time this Sunday, Cardiff Met welcome Scott Ruscoe’s side to the Cyncoed Campus as the students look to claim their first ever victory against The New Saints.
Cardiff Met v The New Saints | Sunday – 12:45 (S4C)
The students are into their third season in the WPL, and having fallen at the final hurdle in the play-off final in their last two seasons, they’ll be hoping that it will be a case of third time lucky this year as they set their sights on European qualification.
But Met haven’t been at their best recently, losing four of their last five WPL matches.
The New Saints start the weekend on top of the league, and the Oswestry outfit are aiming for their eighth consecutive WPL title.
The champions are on a run of five league matches without defeat, and without conceding a single goal (won 4, drawn 1).
Having only conceded two goals in seven WPL matches, TNS have the best defensive record in the league, as well as the best attacking record with 22 goals scored and an average of over three goals per game.
Nine months have passed since the Saints beat Cardiff Met in the League Cup final (1-0), but the following two meetings between the sides were both drawn.
