The Welsh Premier League weekend kicks off with a live match on Facebook between Caernarfon and Bala Town on Friday night at 7:45.

Friday, 5 October

Caernarfon v Bala Town | Friday – 19:45 (Facebook Live)
Sgorio will be live at the Oval on Friday night as Caernarfon host Bala Town with both clubs level on points in the top half of the table.

It will be the first meeting between the sides in the WPL and it should be a tight affair as both clubs have an equal record in the league this season (won 4, drawn 1, lost 3).

The average crowd attendance at the Oval has been impressive this season (approx. 900), and Caernarfon manager Sean Eardley will be hoping that the Cofi Army can inspire his team to another victory against a strong outfit having already beaten the likes of Connah’s Quay, Cardiff Met and Cefn Druids since their promotion.

Bala Town have won all four league games at Maes Tegid this season, but have only picked up one point out of a possible 12 away from home.

But Bala did win on the road against Flint in the Nathaniel MG Cup on Tuesday night (1-5) with Kieran Smith netting a hat-trick on his return from a hamstring injury.

Cefn Druids v Aberystwyth | Friday – 19:45
Cefn Druids start the weekend in the bottom two, but a victory on Friday night would see the Ancients climb above (8th).

The Druids have only won two out of eight league games this season, both wins at home, and they will need to gather some momentum if they are to reach the Top Six for the second consecutive year.

Aberystwyth who are without an away win this season, have not won at The Rock since 2016.

Carmarthen v The New Saints | Saturday – 14:30
The New Saints will be determined to bounce back in the league following their heavy defeat at Cardiff Met last Sunday.

The Saints have already beaten Carmarthen comfortably this season (6-0), and have scored at least five goals in each of their last three meetings with the Old Gold.

Carmarthen are yet to lost at home in the WPL this season (won 2, drawn 2), but after losing all four away matches they are lurking close to the bottom of the table.

Llandudno have the worst attacking record in the league this season (5 goals in 8 games) but managed to score five in their victory against Rhyl in the League Cup on Tuesday night!

Llanelli have lost five league games on the bounce and need a win to kick start their season.

Andy Hill’s Reds have conceded 24 goal in eight WPL games so far (3 goals a game on average).

Sunday, 7 October

Cardiff Met v Connah’s Quay | Sunday – 14:30
Cardiff Met recorded their first ever win against The New Saints last Sunday to deny the champions from regaining the top spot in the WPL.

This weekend they’ll be hoping to do the same as new league leaders Connah’s Quay visit the Cyncoed Campus.

The students have never beaten the Nomads and have failed to score in their last seven games against Andy Morrison’s men (Met only scored once in eight meetings with Nomads in the WPL).

Connah’s Quay are flying recently having won four consecutive league games followed by a convincing 5-1 win against Airbus in the cup on Tuesday night, becoming the first club to beat the Wingmakers this season.

Connah’s Quay keeper, John Danby is set to make his 100th WPL appearance and has kept 39 clean sheets in his 99 league games for the Nomads to date.
