The New Saints fell just short of an excellent second leg comeback against Skhendija in their Champions League qualifier despite 4-0 win.

The Welsh Premier Champions were under no illusion of the challenge they faced following the heavy first leg defeat in Skopje last Tuesday.

Trailing 5-0, first-half goals from Dean Ebbe, Daniel Redmond and Ben Cabango, on loan from Swansea offer the home-side a glimmer of hope.

Substitute Kurtis Byrne scored in sixth minute of extra time, but Saints were unable to net a crucial fifth to force extra time at Park Hall.

The New Saints bow out of the Champions League, but Scott Ruscoe and his men no doubt restored some pride with heroic performance.

TNS will now fall into the second qualifying round of the Europa League, with the Welsh Premier League champions facing Lincoln Red Imps.
