Sgorio has picked the five JD Cymru Premier players that stood out over the weekend.
Josh Tibbetts (Bala Town)
Despite not featuring in the Cymru Premier since August due to injury, Josh Tibbetts showed no signs of rustiness on his first game back for Bala. He kept his first ever clean sheet in the Cymru Premier after making several quality saves against Newtown on Friday night.
Paulo Mendes (Aberystwyth)
Paulo Mendes bagged a brace against his former club on Saturday as Aberystwyth hit Airbus for five at the Airfield. This was Aber’s biggest away win in the league since beating Cefn Druids 0-5 at The Rock (August 2014). Mendes is now Aber’s top scorer in the Cymru Premier.
Darren Thomas (Caernarfon)
It comes as no surprise to see the Cofi Messi included in Sgoiro’s 5-on-form for the second week in a row. Darren Thomas scored a fantastic goal before winning a penalty for the Canaries as Barry lost for first time this season.
James Davies (Cefn Druids)
James Davies has had a massive influence on Druids’ recent results – after scoring the winning goal against Caernarfon and Pen-y-bont, the skilful striker scored again at the weekend to make it five goals in his last four matches. The win over Carmarthen was the Ancients’ third in a row, leaving them in seventh and within three points of the Top Six.
Louis Robles (Bala Town)
Louis Robles has been an excellent addition for Bala since signing in the summer – he scored his second hat-trick of the season against Newtown on Friday night, raising his goal tally to 11 in all competitions this season. Robles is Bala’s joint top scorer in all competitions this season – level with Chris Venables who also has 11 to his name.
On this day in 1956 Portsmouth took on Newcastle United in the first Football League match played under floodlights.
