Sgorio has picked the five JD Cymru Premier players that stood out over the weekend.
Michael Jones (Cefn Druids)
Michael Jones played a key role in Druids’ win over Barry on Saturday – his wonderful saves were enough to secure a clean sheet and the three points. The win meant that Druids have won four consecutive league games for the first time in the club’s history!
Ryan Brobbel (The New Saints)
Ryan Brobbel was back on form on Friday night as TNS beat Aberystwyth 2-0 at Park Hall. He scored his first league goal since September to keep the pressure on league leaders Connah’s Quay.
Charley Edge (Cefn Druids)
Charley Edge scored his first goal in the JD Cymru Premier on the weekend – the only goal of the game against Barry. His goal was enough to send Cefn Druids above Cardiff Met into the Top Six.
Michael Bakare (Connah’s Quay)
It was another great performance at the weekend from last year’s Player of the Year – Michael Bakare. The prolific winger played a big part in Connah’s Quay’s second goal, before calmly finishing past Dave Jones for Nomads’ third goal of the game. The Nomads extended their unbeaten run to a club record 15 league games, as they look to win the league for the first time in their history.
Liam Thomas (Carmarthen)
Carmarthen won a league game for the first time this season – and Liam Thomas deserves a huge amount of credit for his part in the victory. His wonderful flick set up Luke Bowen for the Old Gold’s first of the match, before putting the ball on a plate for Elliot Scotcher, who scored his first ever JD Cymru Premier goal – against his former club Cardiff Met!
On this day in 1968, a record crowd gathered at the Vetch Field, Swansea to witness the Swans' 4th round FA Cup match against Arsenal.
