Sgorio has picked the five JD Cymru Premier players that stood out over the weekend.
Dave Jones (Y Drenewydd)
Newtown haven’t conceded in their last three matches in all competitions, and goalkeeper Dave Jones deserves a lot of the credit. The Robins have leapfrogged Met into seventh place thanks to his quality performances and are only three points behind Druids in sixth.
Jones kept his fifth league clean sheet of the season against Carmarthen at the weekend – only Alex Ramsay and Lewis Brass (6) have more.
Ryan Brobbel (Y Seintiau Newydd)
Ryan Brobbel played a key role in the 1-4 win over Barry Town on Friday night live on Sgorio. Brobbel created Aeron Edwards’ goal to open the scoring at Jenner Park before scoring the second himself from the spot.
This win meant that The New Saints have gone four points clear at the top of the table, but a win for Bala vs Pen-y-bont on Tuesday night will cut the gap to three points.
Darren Thomas (Caernarfon)
It’s no surprise to see Darren Thomas appear in Sgorio’s 5-on-form for the fourth time this season. He scored a brace against Airbus UK at the weekend, including one of the goals of the season! His wonderful strike with the outside of his boot left goalkeeper Dave Roberts with no chance.
His two goals meant that the Cofi Messi now has four goals in his last two games in all competitions.
Joe Faux (Derwyddon Cefn)
This is Joe Faux’s first appearance in Sgorio’s 5-on-form since joining Druids in the summer – and the striker is fully deserving of his place this week. He scored his first ever goal for Druids as the Ancients put an end to Connah’s Quay’s 16-match unbeaten run in the league. Druids have won eight of their last nine matches in all competitions.
Geoff Kellaway (Aberystwyth)
The evergreen Geoff Kellaway scored an important brace at the weekend to secure a big victory in the capital for Aberystwyth against Met. These were his first goals since scoring against Cefn Druids in August.
