The Nomads remain firmly in the tie despite first leg defeat to Serbian giants.
There’s still all to play for in next week’s second leg after Connah’s Quay frustrated Partizan in the Europa League second qualifying round first leg.
On a warm night at Rhyl’s Belle Vue Stadium, the Nomads limited Partizan’s chances in the first half before Aleksander Šćekić rifled in a left footed volley into the bottom corner with just over an hour on the clock.
The scorer, Šćekić has 16 caps for Montenegro, and was one of several international stars included in Partizan’s line-up.
Andy Morrison stated his pride in his team’s performance and remained upbeat despite the defeat, claiming that the Nomads were now travelling to Belgrade next Thursday not as tourists, but as a side that believed that they could still get something out of this tie.
