Cardiff Met have won the Nathaniel MG Cup after beating Welsh League Division One Cambrian & Clydach 2-0 at Jenner Park. Highlights of the final will be shown on Sgorio, Monday at 5:45 on S4C.
Adam Roscrow gave the Students the lead after 40 minutes of play.
Cambrian & Clydach came close to an equaliser early in the second half, but Alex Lang saved Samuel Jones’ strike at full stretch. Met threw bodies in the line of three great efforts by Richards French, Michael Jones and Kyle Jones as Dane Williams’ side kept pushing for an equaliser, but Roscrow scored again late on to put the result beyond doubt.
But for Cambrian & Clydach it was not to be, despite pushing their Welsh Premier opponents all the way in a tight encounter.
On this day in 1956 Portsmouth took on Newcastle United in the first Football League match played under floodlights.
