Friday, 4 January

Aberystwyth v Connah’s Quay | Friday – 19:45 (Facebook Live)

Following Barry Town’s loss at Cardiff Met on New Year’s Eve, the Nomads have regained top spot with two games remaining before the split. Connah’s Quay have only lost one of their last nine league games (vs Bala Town on Boxing Day).

Following a nightmare run of results, Nev Powell’s men have fallen out of the Top Six with the split fast approaching.

Aber have lost four league games in a row for the first time since January 2015! This is their worst run of the season.

The Nomads won the reverse fixture at the start of the season, with goals from Michael Wilde and Michael Bakare sinking Aber.

The New Saints v Newtown | Friday – 19:45

The Saints are currently in heaven – three wins on the bounce and unbeaten in the league since mid-November (0-1 vs Caernarfon).

TNS are now only a point behind Barry in 2nd and two points behind the Nomads at the top of the pile following their fantastic performances.

Newtown are on a decent run of their own – the Robins have won three of their last four league games.

Newtown beat the Saints 4-2 in the last league meeting at Park Hall in December 2017! Goals courtesy of Ryan Sears, Luke Boundford (x2) and Nick Rushton was enough to win the three points for the Robins.

There was no separating the two sides in the reverse fixture earlier on in the season (1-1, 27/10/18).

Saturday, 5 January

Caernarfon v Carmarthen | Saturday – 14:30

A massive game for Caernarfon following their failure to beat Llandudno twice over the festive period. Three points will be huge in the Cofis’ quest for European football with the split fast approaching.

In their way are Carmarthen who are on their longest unbeaten run in the league this season (3 games).

There were goals galore in the reverse between the two sides – the Old Gold winning 4-3 despite a Nathan Craig hat-trick for the Cofis!

Cefn Druids v Barry Town | Saturday – 14:30

A disappointing result on New Year’s Eve from Barry has seen them drop to second position and only a point above TNS who sit in third. The defeat against Met was their first league defeat since mid-November (0-2 vs TNS).

Two hammerings back to back from TNS has seen Cefn Druids drop to 10th in the league behind Carmarthen.

Mo Touray’s last minute winner was the difference between the two sides in September’s reverse fixture (2-1 at Jenner park).

Llanelli v Llandudno | Saturday – 14:30

A massive game between the league’s two bottom sides in the race to avoid the drop!

Two points in the last two games for Tudno but it’s 14 league games without a win for Iwan Williams’ men – the worst run in the club’s history.

Challenging will be Andy Hill’s men who haven’t won a league game since mid-November (2-0 vs Cefn Druids).

Llanelli won the reverse fixture in October – goals courtesy of James Loveridge and Jordan Follows proved to be enough for the three points.

The match on Saturday will be the first ever WPL meeting between the two sides on Stebonheath Park.

Cardiff Met v Bala Town | Saturday – 14:30

A massive result for Met against Barry on New Year’s Eve has seen the students move to within three points of Aber in 7th.

After Bala were well beaten on New Year’s Day, Colin Caton’s men have since fallen to 5th in the league behind Newtown but have already secured a place in the Top Six.

Bala won the the reverse fixture between the two sides earlier on in the season – goals from Sean Smith, Evan Horwood and top scorer Steven Tames were enough to pick up the three points.

It was an excellent spectacle the last time the two sides met in a league game at Cyncoed Campus – 4-3 to Met with Ben Bowler scoring the winning goal.
