The New Saints complete the Welsh Premier and Welsh Cup double for the 6th time in their history (3 trebles, 3 doubles) after their 0-3 win over Connah’s Quay on The Rock, the home of Cefn Druids.
In front of a crowd of 1,256 at Cefn Druids’ Rock stadium, The New Saints beat Welsh Cup holders Connah’s Quay 0-3 to win their 7th Welsh Cup.
Greg Draper opened the scoring after six minutes for the WPL Champions before Ryan Brobbel put TNS further ahead with an in-swinging free-kick beating Connah’s Quay keeper John Danby at the far post.
Brobbel scored his second of the game, again a crossed free-kick beating John Danby – and again poor goalkeeping on his behalf.
The Nomads forward Andy Owens was sent from the pitch after two yellow cards, wrapping up a disappointing afternoon for the cup holders.
This is The New Saints’ 7th Welsh cup victory, with the club winning the trophy five times in the last eight years.
On this day in 1966, Swansea Town played their first European match on home soil as Slavia Sofia visited the Vetch.
