Football fans will have free-to-air access to Wales' 2018 World Cup qualifying matches, as S4C announce they will broadcast Welsh language highlights of every qualifying match on the road to Russia.
Wales are looking to build on their summer of success at UEFA EURO 2016 and S4C's long-running football series Sgorio will bring highlights and analysis of all 10 Russia 2018 qualifying matches.
The games will be exclusively live on Sky Sports with highlights on ITV. S4C will show extended highlights of each Wales match at 10.30pm on the day of each game.
S4C is available on Freeview in Wales, and Sky, Freesat and Virgin in Wales, England, Northern Ireland and Scotland. Viewers on Sky and Freesat can see the action in HD. The highlights will be available online and on demand on s4c.cymru, BBC iPlayer, YouView and other platforms.
Moldova are Wales’s first opponents, on Monday 5 September, at the Cardiff City Stadium. Returning to cover the action for S4C viewers will be the popular combination of presenter Dylan Ebenezer and commentators Nic Parri and Malcolm Allen.
Wales v Moldova will be the first time for the fans to see their heroes in action since the historic UEFA Euro 2016 campaign. Let's hope there's more cause for celebration with a first victory on the road to Russia 2018.
Sue Butler, S4C Sports Editor, says, "Wales' UEFA EURO 2016 journey gave us a summer like no other on S4C, and we're thrilled to be able to continue the journey all the way to the FIFA 2018 World Cup. We look forward to providing fans with a comprehensive package of coverage and analysis which will make these qualifying matches available for fans in Welsh."
Reflecting on the UEFA EURO 2016 competition in France, FAW Head of Public Affairs, Ian Gwyn Hughes, emphasised the importance of Welsh language coverage for football in Wales saying that "to have the Welsh language commentary on S4C is of utmost importance" for the game.
Wales will also play Austria, Georgia, Republic of Ireland and Serbia home and away in their Group D qualifiers.
