“It’s difficult to put in to words how winning Le Tour de France will change Geraint Thomas’s life,” says S4C Seiclo presenter Rhodri Gomer.
The people of Wales are on the edges of their seats waiting to see if Cardiff born Geraint Thomas can fly through the final stages of the world’s biggest cycle race, Le Tour de France.
The final day of racing will be shown in full on S4C, including the podium ceremony, as the channel announces extended live coverage for Sunday afternoon, kicking off at 3.00pm - live on TV, S4C Clic and Facebook Live.
From the Pyrenees to Paris, S4C has followed Geraint since 2014. This year, after years of hard work as a crucial part of Team Sky, the work has paid off for Thomas as he aims to hold on to the Yellow Jersey until the bitter end in Paris on Sunday.
Presenter Rhodri Gomer and the S4C Seiclo team have been there every step of the way, with daily live programmes every afternoon and highlights in the evening. On television, online and on Facebook Live, you won’t miss out on any of the action with S4C.
“I met Geraint a week before the race to wish him luck. As he left the room, he looked back at me with a big smile. From that moment on, I knew he had the confidence to win. Geraint hasn’t put a foot wrong; he’s stayed firmly in the saddle and I’m certain he will survive until Sunday,” says Rhodri Gomer, who has interviewed Geraint Thomas for S4C along the way.
“It’s difficult to put in to words the impact of winning Le Tour de France will have on Geraint’s life and its importance for Wales. It will put Welsh cycling and our sporting history firmly on the international sporting stage.”
With a mountain climb in today’s stage, followed a race against the clock and the Paris finale, S4C will broadcast all the action as Geraint Thomas continues to aim to make Welsh sporting history!
