S4C has succeeded with a last minute bid to show the FA Trophy Final – where Wrexham will face Grimsby at Wembley.
Due to travel problems caused by the bad weather, S4C asked the FA, Wrexham and Grimsby to reconsider a bid to broadcast the game live. The three have agreed to the bid and the game will be shown on S4C from 1445 on Sunday 24th March.
Responding to the agreement, S4C’s Sports Commissioner Geraint Rowlands said:
“The bad weather in the north east of Wales means that many supporters would not have been able to travel to London to see the big game at Wembley. As a result, we contacted the FA to say that our offer to show the game live was still available, and that would enable supporters who can’t travel to see the game after all.
“While the rights to show the game live were not originally available, we’re very pleased that everyone has responded to the change in circumstances and ensured that supporters will be able to see every minute of this historic game.”
