Chili Con Carne

Ingredients

  • 500g minced beef
  • 1 onion
  • 2 cloves of garlic
  • 1 red chilli
  • 2 sprigs of thyme
  • 1 teaspoon cumin, paprika and oregano
  • 400g tinned tomatoes
  • 100-200ml stock
  • Tomato puree
  • 400g red beans
  • Salt and pepper

Method

  1. Fry the finely chopped onion in a little oil in a large saucepan / frying pan until it has softened.
  2. At the same time, in a separate pan, fry the minced meat in a little oil over a moderate heat.
  3. Add the garlic, thyme, oregano and spices to the onion mixture, then mix in the cooked mince and stir well.
  4. Add the tinned tomatoes and the tomato puree, and let cook for about 5 minutes.
  5. Pour in the stock and season with salt and ground black pepper, then let it simmer for about 20 minutes for the flavors to develop.
