800g cooking apples / suitable fruit (such as pears, plums, quinces, blackberries)
2 tablespoons brown sugar
Juice of ½ lemon
Method
Melt the butter in a large frying pan and cook the oats, sugar and nuts over a medium to high heat until golden, then add the seeds and cook for another 5 minutes.
Pour the honey over them, mix well and cook for another 2 minutes. Remove from the heat and pour the mixture into a bowl. Dry the pan lightly before cooking the fruit.
Peel, core and slice the apples. Melt the butter in the same pan and add the apples, mix in the sugar and lemon juice and cook for 5 minutes until the apples have softened. Pour the topping over them and serve straight from the pan with crème fraîche, custard or yoghurt.
