Peel all the apples, cut each one in half, remove the cores, and then coat them with lemon juice.
Heat the sugar and butter in a pan until melted and hot.
Add the apple pieces, rounded side down, and add a handful of blackberries.
Roll out the pastry until it is about ½ cm thick. Cut a circle large enough to cover the fruit, place it over the apples, and tuck in the edges.
Bake in the oven for about ½ hour, until golden and hot.
Remove from the oven and turn it out by placing a plate over the pan – firmly and confidently!! Flip the whole thing over and carefully remove the pan!
Voilà – a French-style apple tart. Not simple, but delicious. Mmm!
