Wrexham v Gainsborough to be shown live on S4C

S4C has announced that Wrexham’s game in the semi-final of the English FA Trophy will be shown live on the channel.

Wrexham will play Gainsborough Trinity on Saturday 16 February in the first of two legs in the semi-final.

S4C will be the only TV channel to show the game live with the kick-off at 12.45 (the programme starts at 12.30) and there will be more football shown later in the programme at 15.00 as Bangor challenge Port Talbot in the Welsh Premier League.

During the game viewers will have the choice of following the game with Welsh commentary or English commentary via the red button service. The game will also be available live on the S4C website and for 35 days afterwards on s4c.co.uk/clic

Geraint Rowlands, S4C Sports Commissioner and Head of Broadcasting, said:

“The fact that we can offer this big game live to our audiences is excellent news for S4C and for football fans throughout Wales.

“This is a very important game for Wrexham, crucial in their bid to reach the FA Trophy Final in Wembley in March. Football followers across Wales recognise how well Wrexham perform this year and there’ll be a lot of excitement surrounding this match.”

Highlights of the second leg will be shown on S4C in Sgorio on Monday 25 February at 10.00.
