S4C welcomes Secretary of State Maria Miller to the Channel's headquarters

13 November 2013

S4C Chief Executive and Chair of the Channel's Authority have welcomed the UK Government's Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport, as she visited the S4C headquarters today (Wednesday, 13 November 2013)

Following a constructive meeting with Huw Jones and Ian Jones, Maria Miller MP was given the opportunity to see Welsh broadcasting at work during a tour of the Channel's individual departments.

The Chair of the S4C Authority, Huw Jones, said he was pleased to welcome Maria Miller and to discuss the Channel's work and future plans with her.

Huw Jones, Chair of the S4C Authority said:

"It was a pleasure for us to welcome the Secretary of State to S4C to give her the opportunity to see some of the Channel's work and output. It was also an excellent opportunity to discuss the service and our vision.

"Bearing in mind the importance of the UK Government's statuary and financial support to S4C's work, it's important for us to communicate regularly with the Secretary of State to ensure she is aware of the depth and amount of work that is done for the Channel, and the impact it has on the language and economy. Her visit today has been a useful contribution to that process.

"We look forward to continuing our relationship with the Secretary of State and her department, as we work together to ensure a prosperous future for S4C."
