International nomination for S4C's Y Gwyll/Hinterland marketing campaign

26 November 2015

S4C has been nominated for a C21 Media International Drama Award for the channel's marketing campaign promoting the recent series of hit crime drama Y Gwyll/Hinterland.

The ceremony is held in London on Wednesday 2 December, and S4C is hoping for a second successive award after they came out on top in the same category last year.

Y Gwyll/Hinterland is one of the channel's leading drama series and has won international acclaim, having been sold to broadcasters across the world. As well as high quality drama, the series has also brought international focus on Wales, the Welsh language and S4C as a channel which commissions content to compete with broadcasters globally.

Ian Jones, S4C Chief Executive says; "I am very proud of the S4C communications team on this international award nomination for the second year running. As one of the highlights of the 2015 schedule, promoting the second series of Y Gwyll/Hinterland called for a gripping and imaginative campaign which succeeded to build anticipation and capture the viewers' imagination.

"As well as economic benefits on a local level, Y Gwyll/Hinterland has attracted international attention to Wales, the Welsh language and S4C. It’s a perfect example of how S4C's investment in programming, and the surrounding promotional campaigns, can have a far-reaching impact on the culture and economy."

The second series of Y Gwyll/Hinterland was financed by broadcast partners S4C and BBC Cymru Wales, together with all3media International, Tinopolis and Welsh Business Finance, it was produced by award-winning production company Fiction Factory.

In early November it was announced that Y Gwyll/Hinterland will return for a third series, with filming to start in Ceredigion in January 2016.

Financed by broadcast partners S4C and BBC Cymru Wales, together with all3media International, Tinopolis, the S4C Co-Production Fund and Welsh Business Finance, the third series will be produced by award-winning production company Fiction Factory. Series 3 will be produced by the show's co-creators Ed Talfan and Ed Thomas.
