Tribute to Sian Pari Huws

30 November 2015

S4C have paid tribute to the journalist Sian Pari Huws, who died on Sunday 29 November.

Llion Iwan, S4C Content Commissioner for Factual programmes, worked closely with Sian Pari Huws as a colleague in the BBC Wales News department. He praises her contribution to broadcasting in Wales and remembers her warm personality as well as her professionalism and natural instinct as a journalist.

Llion Iwan says, "On behalf of S4C, I extend my deepest sympathies to Sian's family. Sian had a quiet presence, yet she shone with professionalism, confidence and credibility. There was a level of quality to everything she did. Despite the pressures of her work, she never let it show, which is key for live broadcasting and she had a natural curiosity and vast knowledge on a variety of subjects. When interviewing, Sian could make you feel at ease, yet, at the same time, she would ask probing questions with confidence in her own knowledge on the subject. Her contribution to Welsh broadcasting is invaluable."

As well as her work at the BBC Wales News department, and as one of the familiar voices of BBC Radio Cymru and Radio Wales, Sian also worked closely with the independent TV production sector in Wales, and in 2006 she presented a maritime history series for S4C, Hanes Cymru a'r Môr.
