S4C has paid tribute to the television producer and comedian Gethin Thomas following his sudden death this week.
Paying tribute to his contribution to comedy in Wales, Elen Rhys, S4C's Entertainment Content Commissioner said;
"Gethin's contribution to Welsh comedy was significant and he provided a platform to develop emerging talents in the Welsh language for many years. He was passionate about comedy, broke new ground with his work, and we thank him greatly for his valued contribution. Our sympathies are with his family at this time."
He worked on numerous comedy series for S4C, over a twenty year period. And more recently he also worked on a series of in-depth interviews with stars such as Rhys Ifans, Ioan Gruffydd and beat–box artist Ed Holden.
Gethin's stand up production Gwerthu Allan is currently being shown on S4C, featuring some of the new and more experienced comedians that he helped and developed over the years.
