A sneak peek at the new series of Un Bore Mercher

With less than a month to go before the second series of the hit drama series Un Bore Mercher on S4C, the audience at a prestigious television festival in London got an early look at the new series.

The stars of Un Bore Mercher Eve Myles and Bradley Freegard along with the author of the series Matthew Hall, were talking at the British Film Institute/Radio Times Television Festival on Sunday (April 14).

Three scenes from the new series were released especially for the high-profile festival at London's South Bank.

Eve Myles, who plays the role of Faith Howells in the drama told Radio 4 broadcaster Nikki Bedi who was chairing the panel, that the timing of the role was perfect for her.

"I could not have played the role of Faith Howells five years ago. It is such an intense and challenging role," said Eve. "But when the role was offered to me, the timing was perfect. I needed something new, a new challenge, something I believed in and the role of Faith Howells felt perfect for me."

Eve spoke about the challenges of filming in Welsh for Un Bore Mercher and in English for Keeping Faith, which will be broadcast later on this summer.

"It was difficult sometimes – we would shoot a scene in Welsh, for example, and then in English – and perhaps something worked better in the English version so then we would have to re-shoot it in Welsh.

"We had to change from one to the other quite rapidly at times, so I'd be working with my English filter and then have to change to my Welsh filter! But we all gave 100 per cent to both versions. The two are equally important to us."

The first series of Un Bore Mercher was broadcast in Welsh first as Un Bore Mercher and then in English as Keeping Faith in Wales on BBC Wales. Keeping Faith received outstanding viewing figures and the series went on to break BBC iPlayer records.

There will be a special showing of the first episode of Un Bore Mercher at Cineworld, Cardiff on May 8. Eve Myles, along with other cast members, will be there for the occasion and will be taking part in a Q&A session at the end

The first episode of the new series picks up the story 18 months after the end of Series 1. We see Faith getting on with her life and striving to create a stable home for her three children after the dramatic events she went through.

So, what will happen to Faith? Is there still anything between her and her husband Evan (Bradley Freegard) or does her relationship with Steve Baldini (Mark Lewis Jones) develop into something more?

All the answers will be revealed in the new series of Un Bore Mercher which begins S4C on Sunday, May 12 at 9pm but keep an eye out for a sneak peek at the first episode on S4C's Facebook, Twitter and Instagram accounts over the next weeks.

Un Bore Mercher, which is available with English subtitles, will also be available on demand on S4C Clic s4c.cymru/clic, BBC iPlayer and other platforms. Un Bore Mercher is a Vox Pictures production on behalf of S4C and BBC Wales.
