Hansh reaches 1 million views in a month

26 March 2020

For the first time ever, S4C's youth platform, Hansh has attracted one million views in one month across Twitter, Facebook and YouTube.

Hansh was launched in June 2017 to offer a unique platform and content for young people aged 16 - 34.

Since then the service has evolved from operating solely on Facebook and YouTube to creating content on Instagram and TikTok as well creating podcasts.

This month's content has reached high statistics across the platforms. 'Tisio Salwch' video attracted 110,000 Facebook views with Bootlegger Video attracting 280,000 Twitter viewing sessions.

Some of Hansh's characters are now well-known to Welsh people around the world including Gareth the Orangutan, 'Tishio grêp' and satirical characters from actor Geraint Rhys Edwards.

Following the success of Geraint Rhys Edwards' character videos on social media, S4C is developing a new comedy program called Cymry Feiral where viewers will enjoy getting to know these characters better.

As well as comedy, Hansh has recently produced a series of documentaries including a programme about the influencer Niki Pilkington, Garmon Ion and the Patagonian people and 'Ffoadur Maesglas' following the story of two Syrian refugees Muhaned and his son Shadi. Hansh has also developed Hansh Dim Sbin, to offer journalism, News and Current Affairs content to the audience.

Rhodri ap Dyfrig, S4C's Online Content Commissioner, said:

"I am very pleased to see how Hansh has developed and these figures prove that the content that is created is a hit with our audience.

"It is important that Hansh responds to what is happening in the world and discusses important topics with our contributors.

"Hansh Dim Spin will provide daily information and reports on the Covid-19 situation and will also include mental health every Wednesday as #MercherMeddwl.

"And as always there will be plenty of entertainment and comedy and documentary content to reflect the lives of our audience across Wales and the world during these difficult times."
